The course presents a definition and gives the significance of fundraising for NGOs, historical perspective and advancement of fundraising over time. It also outlines various types of funding sources including governments, foundations, and private donors, individuals, corporates and social enterprises. Solicited and unsolicited calls are outlined.
Accountability and key Stakeholders in Fundraising
The second module presents the roles and responsibilities of fundraising specialists and volunteers within organizations as well as an outline of how to build effective fundraising teams. The board of trustees or related are put in the spotlight as well as their role in fundraising before a deep dive into fundraising ethics and principles, donor rights and responsibilities.
Fundraising Strategy and Planning
Learners are made aware of the need to align any resource mobilization efforts with the organization’s mission and vision, setting clear fundraising goals and objectives, all with practical examples. SWOT analysis for various facets of strategy and planning is undertaken. Further aspects covered include how to identify funding needs and budget compilation, activity planning, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, evaluation of key personnel skills, Infrastructure and technology needs, and procedures for ascertaining potential donors, donor profiling.

This module presents techniques such as online fundraising,
Events and Campaigns, major gifts and donor cultivation, storytelling and communication.
Donor Relationships, Compliance, Reporting, and Measuring
The module discusses tactics for attracting new donors, leveraging networks and partnerships, donor retention, building and managing donor database. The following compliance, reporting and impact assessment principles are discussed: Legal and Ethical Compliance, Budgeting and Financial Management, Impact Measurement and Evaluation.
